Hey sports fans! Hope you’re having a great week! Just wanted to hit you with a quick update on why I’ve been slacking on blogging and podcasting as of late. The reason being that my schedule has been turned on its head. I went from working the 3-11pm shift to waking up at 3am to fill-in on the 5am-noon shift on KNBR! I’m having an absolute blast, but have had to put the TWSS blog and podcast on the back burner as a result. So, I – and Nick too! – just wanted to say that we promise to resume our regularly scheduled rants as soon as I get some sort of routine figured out. Until then, enjoy the rest of the NBA and NHL Finals and take a look and a listen to the best college sports call in a loooooong time.

Cal baseball. Regionals. Danny Fry at the mic. Two words: GO BEARS!

With the NFL Draft just hours away, Cameron Jordan isn’t the only ex-Cal lineman whose stock is on the rise. Donovan Edwards worked out for the Raiders last week and a source close to the team tells me that the Silver and Black love him as a player and a person and see the Pinole Valley product as an ideal center candidate. The former Bear met with the Niners a few days later and a league source says that San Francisco also liked him at center, but worked him at tackle as well.

Wanna know more about the big man? Well, you’re in luck. California Golden Blogs chatted with Edwards earlier in the week and posted the exchange to their site.

Here’s wishing a guy that’s been humble and hilarious every time we’ve talked the best of luck wherever he ends up!

It took a while for the Conte train to leave the station at Cal, but once it did, the SoCal product floored it. Conte earned a starting spot at strong safety as a senior in 2010 and finished the season as one of only three Golden Bears selected First Team, All Pac-10.

Today in Indy, Conte continued to roll, benching 225 lbs. 18 times, which tied him for the 13th best bench press showing among defensive backs. Conte also ranked as a top performer in the broad jump, leaping 10’7″, a distance good for 4th place among DBs.

CBS Sports’ Draft Scout currently has the former Bear projected as a 4th or 5th round draft pick.

Seriously though, even our Dads can do it. So call in!

Al Davis does it again! No, not scare women and children (although we’re sure that happened on Wednesday too). We’re talking about his verbal shlacking of former head coach Tom Cable in the process of naming his next victim, we mean, head coach, Hue Jackson. Good luck next year, Huey! Needless to say, Kate and Nick are talking Raiders football, along with the latest moves by Jim Harbaugh’s Niners. Then it’s a preview of the NFL’s Final Four, an NCAA basketball wrap, a Warriors and Sharks update, and a quick off-season check-in with the 2010 World Series champion San Francisco Giants!
