Things just keep getting better for the De La Salle and Chico State alum, as the 27-year-old’s nabbed an invite to the US Men’s National Team training camp in January.

The forward’s been making waves since winning the 2010 MLS Golden Boot Award – given to the guy that scores the most goals – and leading the San Jose Earthquakes into last month’s MLS Playoffs for the first time since the original ‘Quakes bolted for Houston in 2008.

As a soccer fan, you can’t help but love this guy. Wondo – say it with me now, Juan-doe – plays his butt off, scores big goals in big games, and coaches youth soccer in order to make ends meet. (FYI: MLS salaries are a bit less than those in other US pro leagues) Needless to say, I’m rooting for Wondo to kick ass in camp and cap things off with a goal in the US’s match against Chile on Jan. 22, 2011. Anyone who watched the World Cup in South Africa knows, the one thing the red, white, and blue needs more than anything is a striker that can actually score.
